Amy Marcetti

Senior Researcher

Amy is passionate about expanding educational opportunities through applied research to help institutions better support students. Her commitment to education is deeply personal: Her father grew up on a farm in California’s Central Valley and was the first in his family to attend college, which changed the trajectory of his life and opened new opportunities for future generations of her family. That experience shaped Amy’s own path into education, first as a middle school teacher, and later as a researcher and college instructor.

Amy has more than 15 years of experience leading research, evaluation, and institutional improvement initiatives across higher education and nonprofit settings. Prior to joining Education Northwest, she directed and collaborated on federally funded research and evaluation projects focused on community college reform, student success, and postsecondary data systems, including work with Achieving the Dream, Completion by Design, and the U.S. Department of Education. She also led assessment and accreditation efforts at Rhode Island College and supported university-wide assessment and teaching improvement initiatives at the University of Rhode Island. Now based in Washington state, Amy is especially interested in research and evaluation work that responds to community needs and promotes equitable educational opportunities across the Pacific Northwest.

At family get togethers, you can find me...

Sitting in the most comfortable chair with my knitting or a book, a plate of snacks beside me.

My theme song is...

Kenny Roger's “The Gambler”

The strangest thing in my refrigerator is...

Nightcrawlers...you never know when you might go fishing!
